The Reassurance of a Debt Relief Plan
Developing a reasonable plan that can get you back on the road to financial stability can provide a tremendous sense of relief. At the Allendale, Michigan, law office of David Knoester, PLC our attorneys and staff know this to be true. After clients leave our office with a plan in place, we can often see that a burden has been lifted from their shoulders. We strive to be as affordable, efficient and effective as possible.
Not all people can qualify for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which allows a person to wipe out most of their credit card and other unsecured debt with certain exceptions. Chapter 13 bankruptcy is for people who have an income or expect to have regular income and who have assets such as a home that they wish to keep.

What Is Chapter 13 Bankruptcy?
Chapter 13 bankruptcy is a reorganization of your debt. It lets you pay back some, not all, of your debt over the course of three to five years. The adjustment will give you room to pay your own expenses, including your living expenses, mortgage or rent, electric bills and other utilities, food and other basic necessities.
Benefits of bankruptcy include:
- An end to creditor harassment immediately: by law they are not allowed to even call you any more
- A temporary stay on any foreclosure or repossession actions
- An end to wage garnishment
